Karina Davidson, of Columbia University, New York.
“Everyone should try and inject some fun into their daily routines to counteract any effects of stress on their health, rather than waiting for holidays,” she said. “Some people wait for their two weeks of vacation to have fun, and that would be analogous to binge drinking.
“Essentially, spending some few minutes each day truly relaxed and enjoying yourself is certainly good for your mental health, and may improve your physical health as well.”
The Carreg Café Bar and Restaurant, High Street, Narberth is definately “The perfect place to relax.”
Shiny, Happy People Welcome!

This weekend we manoeuvred a table from eco eco into the Courtyard, put it next to our fantastic barbeque and so we now have an outdoor kitchen! The possibilities are endless! I am really looking forward to getting this fantastic new apect of The Carreg up and running. Roll on a nice sunny Easter when we can have some lovely al fresco moments!
We have had to close eco eco, I am afraid to say, but the space eco eco has vacated is being turned into beautiful, new, luxury accommodation suites as we speak (remember Hotel Carreg-fornia blog entry?) By Easter everything will be ready to roll, so please come and we what we have been busy beavering away at.
Take Care
Ian

We have great fun in our Tranqullity Garden all year round but we came across an unfortunate situation there of late. Elvis, one of our beautiful pygmy goats had had a fit, and despite best efforts by all concerned, he passed away. Thanks to everyone who helped us, especially Arberth vets and Kate at Goddards who helped us dispose of his body.

My son, Lewis has just disappeared off on a snowboarding/skiing trip with school over half term, so he will miss out on getting up early, feeding the animals, washing up, helping The Carreg Crew and just generally being useful. I’ll bet he is disappointed!
If there are Carregulars out there or people who are curious what our new chef, Tom Hunt can do, please book early in order that you aren’t disappointed as The Carreg gets so much busier when schools are closed.
That is, of course, if your precious ones haven’t fled the country in search of an adventure, snow or otherwise.
Second thoughts, treat yourself whilst you have got the time to!
Have a brilliant weekend!

Last Thursday we had Elaina Hoss entertaining us at The Carreg with her beautiful voice. It really was a fantastic evening, once again, brilliantly organised by Declan and the Span people, but, unfortunately after a few dining cancellations wasn’t brilliantly attended. You may recall that Elaina was meant to have played at The Carreg a couple of weeks ago but snowfall prevented that. I must say I really enjoyed the evening, and it really was a shame that it wasn’t as well attended as it deserved to be, especially with the earlier snow cancellation. I am sure that all who attended had a wonderful time too.
I do know that I am guilty of not promoting this on the blog fully, especially after the earlier cancellation and I will talk to Elaina and her mum Sara about coming to The Carreg for a more full on event in the near future. I would also like to apologise to Declan and the excellent SpanJazz team for this poor ommission. I really do appreciate what you all do for us and Jazz in west Wales in general.
As for February’s Jazz instalment, read on….
Polish trumpeter Janusz Carmello is visiting Wales for a short tour and coming to Narberth on Wednesday 10th. Feb.
He spent 7 years in Milan before moving to become a figure on the London scene.
His style is influenced by Clifford Brown and Freddie Hubbard, and he’s worked with Charles Mingus, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis,Al Cohn, Bud Freeman and many others in his forty year career. Janusz Carmello is a great rarity – a trumpet player who has absorbed the harmonic lessons of modern jazz without losing the lyrical beauty of the best mainstream players. Carmello, plays trumpet and pocket trumpet, is accompanied by a fine rhythm section of The John Gibbon Trio

This weekend Plum Harrison is leaving The Carreg to take on other commitments. Plum has been part of The Carreg since we opened and was even written into the original business plan! I am extremely proud of what we have achieved whilst Plum has been with us and am sorry to see her go.
I am equally sorry to see Lara Herde leave. Lara has decided find fresh challenges in the great wide world.
It is always sad to see loyal people leave but I am sure that their decisions and their time in The Carreg will see them through to a great future.
