Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards 2009 Update

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Back in July I wrote that we had been nominated for 3 categories in the above. I have great pleasure in announcing the fantastic news that we are through to the finals in 2 of the 3 categories we have been nominated in! These are ‘Best Chef’ and ‘Most Exciting New Business’

I understand from Joy (isn’t it fantastic that someone called Joy brings around the good news?) at Pembrokeshire Tourism that we have had many, many nominations for these awards and I thank everybody who has taken the time to do this for us.

Fingers crossed for the result!

Ian

PS Also ‘Big Congratulations’ to everybody’s favourite Web designer, Angus at WebAdept, as he has become a Dad for the first time!

Jazz at the Carreg

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

On September 9th, Span Arts’ monthly jazz night is moving to the Carreg, and to start things off in style, the wonderful sax player Dominic Norcross will be playing with his quartet. Dominic is a musician with a national reputation – Mick Taylor (ex Rolling Stones guitarist) called him “…one of the best blues and rock’n'roll sax players in Europe”. But he’s got deep local roots. The Dominic Norcross Quartet explore the full range of classic jazz, from smooth, delicate ballads to rip-roaring grooves. There’s some more information here:
http://www.span-arts.org.uk/jazzsept.htm or you can ring Span Arts on 01834 869323.
Tickets will be available on the door at £8 or £6 for Span Arts members and concessions, and doors open at 7.30.

New Occurrings!

It seems like ages since I wrote a post last (it probably has been!), but I haven’t been sitting around counting the raindrops. In the last few weeks my buddy Tom got married in beautiful Llangollen and had a lovely wedding. Fortunately, we had some beautiful weather to enjoy the day which included an idyllic canel boat ride along the aquaduct. There are restaurants in Llangollen in which take payment in pounds, euros or American dollars: How international is that? Maybe Pembrokeshire should follow this initiative with The Carreg leading the way!

Also, we have opened another business. Over the past two years we have been building a superb new garage on the Redstone Road out of Narberth, leading to the A40. We are officially opening a new Gravells branch in Narberth on Monday and I just can’t wait! It has been a difficult journey getting this up and running, but we are here, putting the finishing touches to this magnificent facility before the big day.

Of course this new venture will work hand in glove with The Carreg, Idos, Pretty Lovely and eco eco, offering the same excellent standard we demand in all our businesses. Please be assured that this is what Wendy and I have always strived for and will continue with all we do time and time again, through hard work and dedication.

Take Care

Ian
