The Carreg’s uniqueness is a combination of quality dining in a beautiful building with superior service in a High Street setting. My New Menu will be on the blog later on this week and, be assured, that it is an eye opener. I have worked with some first class people with quality ingrediants to ensure that this Menu will please all.
Weekdays we are doing ‘kids eat free’ between 6.30 and 7.30 from a special menu. We are also holding a special quiz where the best little one each month can win a prize for their Mum and Dad. Please ask your server for details.
I look forward to greeting you at The Carreg soon.
Cheers!
Tom

Quite simply, we want to be able to host weddings at The Carreg. We could arrange a fantastic day starting with a stay in our boutique suites and our forthcoming roundhouse accommodation. Then the ceremony in The Carreg with a sumptuous feast to round it off. Strawberries and champagne cocktails in the Tranquillity Garden in the afternoon with a party in the restaurant or barbeque in the Courtyard to start the evening party off, with dancing in The Courtyard, with the assurance of our full attention to the finest detail.
If this is of interest to you, please get in touch and we will make your special day beautiful.

If you needed to somewhere to stay for the night, could you think of anywhere more idyllic than somewhere like the above? Following the successful opening of our boutique suites, we want to build three cordwood roundhouses in the Tranquillity Garden. They will be complete luxury (as you would expect with anything associated with The Carreg) and be as close to carbon neutral as we can make them. We would expect to charge around £65 a night for these gems which would house a double bed and a futon for two children to sleep on. Heating would be a low impact unit and also a wood burning stove if you fancy stoking up the fire, with en suite facilities, with toilet flush being made possible by harvested rainwater.
The point being here is that somebody just needing a room for the night gets a luxury, low cost room, whilst those wanting a true eco eco experience can learn during their stay. All this in the same building!

We have always promoted The Carreg as a family restaurant. There is nothing more important than family when the chips are down and you need someone to help.
The picture above is of me and another chap who is also called Ian Gravell. We met at a motorbike event on Sunday, raising funds and awareness for Cancer. Although we are not family, it is amazing the familiarity this happy coincidence has already brought us. I look forward to searching through the archives and finding out if we are related or not, because Ian has traced his line to Carmarthen, where my family is originally from.
Enjoy Fish Week! Tom is going great guns with our Fish Specials and we will Barbeque again next Sunday.

Tom putting his point forward at our new firepit. “A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff.” or something like that

“Bats are amazing animals, and an important part of our natural environment. There are 18 species of bat in the UK (17 of which are known to be breeding here), all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically.
The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) is working towards a world where bats and people live in harmony, to ensure they are around for future generations to enjoy.”
We have had two gentlemen staying with us of late in the Boutique Suites, whose job is to check that the new bypass being built isn’t affecting the bats in the area greatly. They have been out with monitoring equipment, burning both ends of the candle, doing a job which must satisfy immensely.
Let us trust that the bats were pleased to see them too and they will not be affected too much by the bypass construction.
